New programs and more opportunities to earn credits!

Employees who are insured through PCS medical can earn either $200 or $300 for participating in approved wellness activities. Employees who have Employee or Employee + Children coverage must complete 5 wellness activities to earn $200. Employees who have Employee + Spouse, Employee + Family, or 2 Board Family coverage must complete 8 wellness activities to earn $300. Activities must be completed between January 1 and December 31 of the same calendar year. Activities can be completed by employees or their covered spouse- activities done by covered children will not count towards this wellness credit. Incentive will be paid out in the first quarter of 2021 directly in an employee’s paycheck. Employees must be actively employed and insured through PCS at the time of payout to receive the incentive.

    Wellness screenings will be completed by Quest via on-site screening, at the Quest Patient Service Centers, or through a Physician Results Form. To register for a wellness screening, visit My.QuestForHealth.com. Enter the below registration key under 'Create Account.' Follow the instructions to confirm eligibility and create your account. If an employee has already created an account in 2019, they will log in to their account to schedule a screening at an On-Site Event, at a Quest Patient Service Center, or through a Physician Results Form. Employees must make an appointment on My.QuestForHealth.com to earn the credit. Employees insured through PCS can participate and earn 1 credit towards the Aetna Health Promise Incentive. Spouse are not eligible to earn this credit.

    Screenings will measure blood pressure, BMI, cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood sugar via finger stick (on-site screening) or venous blood draw (Quest Patient Service Center).

    Earn an additional incentive of Peerfit.

    Employees who complete the wellness screening through Quest will earn access to Peerfit. Peerfit is a national network of gyms and wellness studios (yoga, kickboxing, boot camp, etc.). PCS will provide 16 credits per month for up to 6 months to those who complete the wellness screening. Employees can use these credits to reserve and attend fitness classes (ex: yoga, kickboxing, cardio, etc). Employees will receive an email with registration instructions within a month following their screening.

    Credits will reset the first of every month.

    Employees will continue to have access to their account after the initial 6 month period. They can enter credit card information to purchase additional classes at a discount rate.

    The Simple Steps Health Assessment is a health questionnaire provide by Aetna. Login to the secure Aetna member website- www.aetna.com and under ‘Stay Healthy’ click 'Complete your Assessment.’ Additional resources and online coaching will be provided based on the results of the health assessment.

    Earn an additional $50 or $100

    Earn $50 by completing the Simple Steps Health Assessment and a routine well adult exam. Employees and their spouse insured through PCS can earn $50 each for a total of $100. Steps:
    1. Login to www.aetna.com and complete the Health Assessment.
    2. Members will receive recommendations based on their unique health risk provided in their assessment.
    3. Once the routine well adult exam is completed, Aetna will send the member an email with directions on how to obtain their $50.

    Team step challenge program

    Powered by Virgin Pulse, Aetna Get Active is a quarterly team-based step challenge. All employees can participate regardless of insurance coverage and can invite family or friends to participate in these challenges. There will be 4 team challenges each year. The team challenges will be 6-8 weeks. Participants can also participate in individual healthy habit challenges throughout the year but will not earn a credit.

    To register:

    1. Visit join.virginpulse.com/AetnaGetActive
    2. Begin to enter 'Pinellas County Schools' into the search bar and select Pinellas County Schools.
    3. Enter your information to sign up. You must enter in your PCS email using the domain @pcsb.org.
    4. Follow the instructions to complete your account.
    5. You will be able to invite friends and family once your account is created.

    Four team step challenges each year.

    Employee Credit: 1 credit max for participating in one team challenge.
    Employees must track steps during at least half of the challenge to earn the credit towards the wellness incentive. Individual healthy habit challenges or individual step challenges will not count towards the credit.

    PCS Wellness will reward the top three teams for each challenge and will also be randomly selecting participants during the challenge to win gift cards.

  • Aetna Maternity
    Resources and consultation for a healthy pregnancy

    Early risk identification, prevention and education can help families have healthy, full-term babies. The Aetna Maternity Program provides members with access to Aetna Maternity nurses and other resources during their pregnancy and after delivery. Members who begin the Aetna Maternity Program within the first 16 weeks of pregnancy will be eligible for 1 wellness credit, $50 gift card, and a Mayo Clinic Healthy Pregnancy book.

  • Kick Butt or AHEC Class
    Tobacco cessation resources and courses

    Kick Butt

    Employees who are current tobacco users can participate in the 6 week tobacco cessation program. This online program focuses on practical ways to reduce tobacco use to ultimately stop the habit forever. The program will consist of weekly webinars and 3 one-on-one coaching calls.     AHEC Quit Smoking Now (4– Week Class)

    Employees or spouses who are current tobacco users are eligible for FREE multi-session in person AHEC Classes. Visit pcsb.org/wellness for a complete list of Quit Smoking Now (4-Week Class) through AHEC.

    Additional $150 for Benefit Eligible Employees for Tobacco Cessation

    Benefit eligible employees can earn $150 for completing either the Kick Butt program or the AHEC multi-session classes and remaining tobacco free for 6 months. Employees must call 588-6151 before starting the Kick Butts or AHEC class for details of the incentive.

    Back and Body Works is a 4 week program that focuses on injury prevention and general health for your back and body. Learn how to lift, sit, stand, and do everyday activities properly to protect your back from painful and serious injury.

    Together with the YMCA, PCS is offering a Blood Pressure Program to employees and dependent spouses. This is a 4 month program in person class that is open to all PCS Employees and spouses with PCS medical insurance. The YMCA's Blood Pressure Program helps participants reduce or manage their BP, increase awareness of triggers that may elevate BP, and learn the importance of nutrition and exercise.

    The Weight Is Over is an 8 week program that focuses on tools and techniques for how to manage and lose weight. This in-person class will track participants progress in weight, body fat percentage, BMI, and waist-to-hip ratio.

    2020 Aetna Health Promise FAQs

    What is Aetna Health Promise?

    Aetna Health Promise is a premier wellness program provided by Aetna for employees who have active Aetna medical insurance through Pinellas County Schools (PSC). Aetna Health Promise is a health and wellness program focusing on disease prevention, managing and improving health, and improving overall wellbeing. The Aetna Health Promise Programs concentrate on 5 major risk factors: blood pressure, cholesterol, triglycerides, blood sugar, and waist circumference. An elevated value of 3 or more of these risk factors have been shown to greatly increase an individual’s risk for heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.

    The Aetna programs are structured to encourage members to set goals and action steps to improve or maintain these 5 values.


    What is the Aetna Health Promise Incentive?

    The Aetna Health Promise incentive can be earned by employees insured through PCS medical. Employees on the Employee and Employee + Children plan can earn $200 by completing 5 of the approved activities. Employees on the Employee + Spouse, Employee + Family, and 2 Board Family Plan can earn $300 by completing 8 of the approved activities. Spouses can participate in various approved activities to earn credit towards the 8 total credits. Employee must earn the credits between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020. The incentive will be paid out in the first quarter of 2021.


    What is the list of approved wellness activities for the Aetna Health Promise Incentive?

    Who can participate in the Aetna Health Promise Incentive?

    All employees insured through PCS medical plan can earn credits towards the Aetna Health Promise Incentive. Spouses who are dependents on the employee’s plans can also earn credits towards the incentive. Children who are dependents cannot earn any credit towards the incentive.


    Are Retirees eligible for the Aetna Health Promise Incentive? 

    Retirees are not eligible for the 2020 Aetna Health Promise Incentive, as members must be insured through the group health plan and actively employed at time of payout for the 2020 Aetna Health Promise Incentive.


    Can retirees participate in the wellness program?

    Preventative screenings are covered at 100% under the health plan for all Aetna members. Retirees and their covered spouse can each earn the $50 gift card for completing a Routine Adult Well exam and the Online Health Assessment.


    When will the Aetna Health Promise Incentive will be given?

    Credits for the Aetna Health Promise Incentive must be earned between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020. The incentive will be paid directly in the employee’s paycheck in the beginning of 2021.


    How can I see what credits I’ve earned towards the Aetna Health Promise Incentive?

    Members can see what credits they’ve earned in the secure Aetna member website, Aetna Navigator. Once logged in to www.aetna.com, members will be able to go to ‘Incentives’ under the ‘Stay Health’ tab. Full directions of how to check your credits.


    How are credits tracked?

    All credits are tracked automatically through program reports and claims. Credits can take 4-6 weeks to post in the Aetna portal. If employees do not see their credits within 6 weeks, they can reach out to the Aetna onsite representatives, Jessica O’Connell pcs.oconnellj@pcsb.org or Gina DeOrsey pcs.deorseyg@pcsb.org, with the date of the activity and their date of birth.


    What is a biometric screening?

    A biometric screening is a health screening done through Quest Diagnostic to test various biometric health results. The screening will measure cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood sugar through a finger stick (on-site location) or venous draw (Quest Patient Service Center). Blood pressure, body mass index, and waist circumference will also be measured.


    Where can I complete a biometric screening?

    Employees have three options to complete a biometric screening: PCS on-site events, at a Quest Patient Service Center, or through a Physician Results form. For all screenings completed at a Patient Service Center or through a Physician Results form, employees must be registered through My.QuestForHealth.com in order for the screening to count towards the Aetna Health Promise Incentive.


    How do I register for a wellness screening?

    Employees can register for a wellness screening at My.QuestForHealth.com.

    If you created an account in 2019, you will use the login and password created in 2019 to log in.


    What incentives can I earn for completing the wellness screening?

    Employees can earn 1 credit towards the Aetna Health Promise Incentive and receive 16 Peerfit credits for up to 6 months.


    What is peerfit?

    Peerfit is an additional incentive provided to employees who complete wellness screenings. Peerfit is a digital platform that allows you to access a network of fitness studios and gyms.

    Employees who complete a screening will receive access to 16 credits per month for up to 6 months. The credits can be used to purchase fitness classes at no cost to the employees. On average a class is about 4 credits but range from 1 credit to 12 credits. The network also has open gym memberships options.


    If I complete my wellness screening, when do I receive my peerfit account?

    Employees will receive access to peerfit about 1 month after completing the wellness screening. Employees will receive an email with instructions to use their Peerfit credits. Employees will have access to 16 credits a month for up to 6 months. Credits will reset the first of each month.


    How can I earn an additional $50 gift card?

    Employees and spouses who are dependents can earn a $50 gift card for completing a health assessment and their annual physical with your primary care physician within a calendar year. The employee and spouse can earn $50 each for a family max of $100. Participants will receive an email from Aetna Rewards with directions on how to claim their reward.

    Employees and spouses can both earn 1 credit towards the Aetna Health Promise for completing the health assessment and their annual physical.


    Where can I go to access my Health Assessment?

    Members will login to their secure Aetna member website, www.aetna.com and click on ‘Stay Healthy.’ Then click on the ‘Stay Healthy’ link. Finally click on ‘Complete Health Assessment.’ Follow the directions to complete the health assessment. You will receive a Health Score once you’ve completed the assessment.


    What is Aetna Get Active?

    Aetna Get Active is an online challenge platform for ALL PCS employees. Employees can participate in 4 team-based step challenges throughout the year, as well as, challenge themselves and others to smaller step challenges and healthy habit challenges.


    Who can participate in Aetna Get Active?

    ALL employees can participate in Aetna Get Active. Employees can also invite friends and family.


    How do I register for Aetna Get Active?

    • Visit join.virginpulse.com/aetnagetactive
    • Under ‘Sign Up,’ search for Pinellas County Schools.
    • Follow the instructions to create your account.
    • Invite friends and family members when prompted during registration or go to your home page of your account and click on ‘Programs’ at the top of the page.

    What incentives will I receive for participating in Aetna Get Active?

    Employees who participate in a quarterly challenge will receive 1 credit max towards the Aetna Health Promise Incentive. PCS District Wellness Team will be providing additional incentives throughout the four team challenge.


    Will PCS still continue other District programs?

    Yes, the PCS District wellness team will still continue district programs like the Diabetes Care program, YMCA programs, tobacco cessations, the wellness champion program, etc. For questions with the district program please call 588-6031.
